Bay Sucker Trioza alacris

When visiting friends in Surrey and having a look round their garden the first thing I noticed was that they had a Bay tree and, having been unsuccessful searching for Trioza alacris on a Bay tree closer to home, I immediately saw this as an opportunity to find this distinctive psyllid. Sure enough a gall and three adults were quickly located. The female's forewing was 2.8mm long and the two males were both smaller with forewinigs 2.6mm long.

I don't recall if I realised I'd collected this but when I came to examine the adults this was in the pot with them, an exuvia. I suppose it's possible that I collected two adults and a nymph and one transformed into an adult in the pot: if so it must have happened overnight as I took the photos of all three adults early the following morning.
