Scotch Diamond-back Rhigognostis incarnatella

This nationally-scarce species is also known as Scotch Smudge. The range maps in Manley (2nd ed), Sterling & Parsons and the NBN Atlas don't include Cumbria but there's a photo from Cumbria on the Hants Moths website. It occurs in Scotland, Ireland, Isle of Man and County Durham, so Cumbrian records aren't surprising.

This one came to light in the garden of our accommodation and was very active after potting it. I took these photos while it was still in the pot but as soon as I attempted to photograph it out of the pot it escaped.
