Norfolk Snout Nothris verbascella

Formerly found in the Norwich area in the 19th century and later in the Snettisham area of west Norfolk, but with no further records after 1971 despite extensive searching the species was presumed to be extinct in the UK. The sensational rediscovery of the species south of Norwich by Dave Jones in 2024 hit the national press and numerous records in this area have followed, along with a 2025 record from Old Catton on the north side of Norwich.

I haven't yet found this species myself, but I'm grateful to David Norgate for showing me this one which he found.
