Variegated Fungus Moth Nemapogon variatella

Originally given the vernacular name Pale Corn Clothes Moth. This is currently the rarest of the six species of Nemapogon that can be found in Norfolk and the only one I haven't caught myself.

This moth was caught by Laura King in her garden. Laura sent me a photo for ID and I suggested that it be dissected to confirm the ID. She duly passed it on to me and the genitalia prove that it was variatella. Note that my attempt to detach the aedeagus resulted in it breaking so only part of this is shown to the right of the rest of the genitalia below, the rest remaining attached.
