Trichopsocus brincki
When I first wrote this page I noted that The NBN Atlas doesn't show any records of this species in East Anglia, but since then things have changed - there are now quite a lot of dots on the map there. It was first recorded in the UK in 20023 and although described as scarce at the National Barkfly Recording Scheme website, this does not appear to be the case any longer. I have now recorded it from several locations including to light in my garden and knocked out of a variety of conifer species elsewhere.
This is a small species (the detached forewing shown below was 2.25mm long (including the apical cilia). The pterostigma is evenly thick, and darkened, and there is an additional long dark patch nearer the base of the forewing (look carefully - it's not all that obvious). This one was found on pine.
