Burdock Blacklet Cheilosia impressa
The Ball & Morris hoverfly guide says that the genus Cheilosia are often dismissed by novices as too difficult to attempt. In my case I think it's been more a question of recognising them as hoverflies. The orange wing-bases are helpful with this species.
