Ivy-leaved Toadflax Aphid Dysaphis gallica


These aphids are pretty small and I would have overlooked them had it not been for the fact that I retained a bit of toadflax in order to check the fungus on it was Septoria cymbalariae. When I looked at it under the microscope I noticed a couple of aphids - and then a few more...

There were no alates among them, but one had wing buds so I hoped it would moult into an alate.

The following day I checked them again, and sure enough it had moulted:
