Baer's Pochard Aythya baeri
This species is critically endangered within its natural east Asian range but captive birds can be found in several wildfowl collections. All the birds on this page are captive.

There was a Ferruginous Duck x Baer's Pochard hybrid in this collection as well as pure Baer's Pochards. I thought I'd labelled all my photos correctly at the time (and in line with the advice from the collection's owner) but looking back at my photos now I'm not so certain. At least one bird shown in these photos (especially the last one) seems rather more reddish than I would expect on a pure Baer's Pochard and I'm wondering if this was in fact a hybrid.
