Hollyhock Weevil Rhopalapion longirostre

This species has only been known to be established in the UK since 2006 but seems to be quite widespread in south-east and central England now.

There were several weevils on Hollyhock in the garden of our accommodation in Kent, most of which were mating pairs. Having recently looked for them without success on Hollyhock in my village, I was pretty confident from field views that they were this species. Just to make quite sure I retained one pair and keyed them out using Duff.
