Viburnum Beetle Pyrrhalta viburni
My first example of this species was found on Fleabane during the day.

I had long suspected that I had these breeding in my garden as there has often been extensive leaf damage on the Viburnum which seemed consistent with beetle larvae feeding signs. But despite regularly searching for larvae I have only found one once.

It took even longer to find an adult beetle in my garden. This one came to light but I've run the moth trap within 2-3m of the Viburnum practically every night for over 10 years and this is the only one I've caught. Presumably they don't come to light readily.
