Platydracus stercorarius

This striking beetle was found moribund in a pitfall trap. Although distinctive (especially by rove beetle standards) there is another fairly similar species in the genus. The hairs on the pronotum were dark but this made it hard to see the way they were lying. I think the other characters eliminated the scarcer latebricola well enough.
