Marram Weevil Philopedon plagiatum
The only British species in the genus. Although the vernacular name suggests an association with Marram, this is not an exclusive association and, although common around the coast it can also be found inland, for example in the Brecks.
If I keyed this at all it would have been using Hackston's keys, but I was very new to looking at beetles at this time.
