Red-breasted Carrion Beetle Oiceoptoma thoracicum

Must admit to being unusually excited when I first bumped into one of these, even if it did take me a while to work out that it was a beetle and not some kind of wierd shieldbug!

Apparently the best way of finding these is to look on carcases, but I'm a bit squeamish about such things. I did notice this one though, as I walked past a dead hare.
