Hydroporus nigrita

This Hydroporus came to LED lights and was the first Hydroporus I identified. At the time I identified it as nigrita, proably using Hackston, however looking back at it I am now quite doubtful. I think nigrita should be blacker than this looks in my photos. At least most photos of nigrita online show a blacker insect and I can't see that I would have got to nigrita using Duff's key. Unfortunately I didn't retain the specimen so I can't re-key it.

If anyone who is more experienced with this group than I am can identify this from these photos please get in touch, but in the meantime I shall treat this record as unproven (at best).
