Donacia clavipes


According to Duff's key the legs should be "entirely ferruginous" but judging from other sources blackish tips to the hind femroa, as shown here, appears to be quite common in this speices.

This came to light near a reedbed and at the time I'd got very little experience with beetles or literature about them, so I had no idea what it was. I've only got the photos to go on but I think it's got to be this species.
