Raspberry Beetle Byturus tomentosus
After spending quite a bit of time carefully identifying a Byturus ochraceus (see that page for details), I reviewed my other past records of both Byturus species. I had only identified one as tomentosus before and now reviewing the photos after looking at ochraceus the difference in eye size and elytra shape seem surprisingly obvious.

This was among my first Byturids and I hadn't been studying beetles for long. At the time I identified it as ochraceus, but looking at the photos again now it's surely got to be tomentosus.
