I found this indoors. It was the first time I attempted to identify a Bruchus and I hadn't got very much experience using keys at all. I struggled keying Bruchus in the early days and I identified it as Bruchus rufipes. I can't see how I came to that conclusion but it surely must be rufimanus (like all the Bruchus I found over the next 8 years).

2x Bean Seed Beetles Bruchus rufimanus, Wendling Beck Environment Project (Norfolk, UK), 7th May 2023
This one was swept from White Dead-nettle. I felt that the detail of the pronotum hair scales was potentially a better match for the much rarer Bruchus atomarius but the size was too big. Mike Hackston's key and NatureSpot mention a difference in the colour of the hairs on the underside with atomarius being more grey vs. yellowish-brown on rufimanus however although this seemed to fit atomarius in that respect so have several of the other beetles I've caught that I've identified as rufimanus and I can't believe they were all atomarius really (there was only one county record up to 2021 at least). Duff doesn't mention this character and I conclude that it's either unreliable or hard to interpret correctly. In the end I'm satisfied this is another rufimanus.
