Brachypterus urticae

This was beaten from Ivy directly over a patch of nettles. I found the tooth at the base of the claws very hard to see at first, initially concluding they were absent and thus identifying it as Kateretes rufilabris. However I wasn't convinced about my assessment of the claws - at some angles I had seen a hint of what might have been a tooth at the very base of the claw, so before settling on this ID I decided to take a closer look. Good job I did, as eventually I realised all the claws did in fact have a tooth.

The next problem was deciding between the two species of Brachypterus. I wasn't wholly convinced by the spacing of the punctures, but leaned towards urticae. The base of the pronotom had a clearly concave section and that seemed to clinch it, plus I think the paler legs (at least the tarsi and tibia) support this ID.
