Anaspis garneysi
This would have been a fairly straightforward ID if I hadn't misjudged the mid tibia shape. One edge was somewhat sinuate, or at least expanding towards the apex, so I took the option (using the excellent Levey key in the RES Handbook series) for "mid tibia with posterior edge sinuate" - after all the edge clearly wasn't straight which was the alternative. After arriving at maculata which clearly wasn't right (they do have a black form but the appendages were wrong) I checked Duff. Looking at the diagrams of the appendages garneysi was the only one that fitted so I worked back through the key to see where I went wrong. He describes the relevant mid tibia edge as interior rather than posterior, but I always have trouble working out which edge is which side. Looking at the diagrams I realised that the relevant edge was the same side as the apical spurs - I was looking at the opposite edge. The interior (or posterior) edge of the mid tibia was indeed straight - that was where I went wrong.
