Enoplognatha latimana

One of two very similar species I think collectively known as Candy-striped Spider. Separation of this species from Enoplognatha ovata requires examination of the palps (males) or epigyne (females).

According to NatureSpot ovata is 10x commoner where they both occur so perhaps lucky that the first one I've examined microscopically is latimana. This was in my garden moth trap.

This one was also found in my moth trap on exactly the same date one year earlier. On this occasion I did not examine it microscopically so it can only be recorded as Enoplognatha ovata agg., but given the coincidence of circumstances, date and site, I would imagine there's a pretty good chance it was also latimana. Or maybe not?
