Crested Duck Lophonetta specularioides

This is a species which I've only seen in captivity. There is a domestic form of Mallard, with a tuft of feathers on its head, which is often called Crested Duck by breeders, however that is an entirely different creature than this South Amnerican species that bears the same name.

I think the red eye here makes this the nominate race specularioides - the Andean race alticola apparently has a yellow iris and less spotting on the underparts.
