Blue-billed Teal Spatula hottentota

This species was formerly placed in the genus Anas. It was formerly known as Hottentot Teal, however this name has been changed as the word Hottentot is an offensive term to describe the Khoikhoi people.

I have not seen this species in many wildfowl collections. This collection not only held Blue-billed Teals but also two Garganey x Blue-billed Teal hybrids.
